Paul Nagy
Assistant Director/Goal Keeper Training
Paul Nagy is entering his third season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the Ladyjack soccer program.
In 2011, Nagy was part of a Ladyjacks’ coaching staff that led SFA to a 15-3-1 (9-0) record and the Southland Conference regular season title. The Ladyjacks finished the season with an RPI of 45, the highest mark in school history.
Nagy oversaw the defense and goalkeepers, who proved not only to be the best in the Southland Conference but also one of the best in the country. The Ladyjacks’ defense posted a goals against average of just .416, the fifth-best mark in the nation.
The SFA defense also registered nine straight shutouts from Sept. 23-Oct. 23, which went into the NCAA record books as the sixth longest shutout streak in Division I history. The Ladyjacks allowed just eights goals all season in 2011, setting yet another new school record.
Nagy also oversaw the development of goalkeeper Lacey Lee, who was named to the first-team all-conference.
Nagy is involved in every aspect of the program. Off the field, his main responsibilities include recruiting, scouting opponents, and day-to-day operations.
In Nagy's first season at SFA he helped lead the Ladyjacks to a 13-5-2 record with a 6-2-1 record in the Southland Conference and a second place finish. SFA finished the 2010 season with its highest ever national ranking with a final RPI of 69th in the country.
Nagy comes to SFA following a two-year stint as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the men's soccer program at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fl. During his time at Rollins, Nagy helped lead the Tars to a 24-13-1 record. Rollins won the Sunshine State Conference championship in 2009 and earned a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Prior to his stop at Rollins, Nagy was an assistant at the University of Central Florida for three seasons (2005-2007). At UCF, he coached goalkeepers for two seasons before earning a promotion to the top assistant's spot and adding recruiting coordinator to his title.
The former goalkeeper served as a volunteer goalkeepers coach at TCU, Saint Louis University and LeMoyne College before accepting his position with the University of Central Florida. Additionally, he is the director of coaching for Nagy Goalkeeping School and Camps.
As a player, Nagy competed professionally for the Dallas Burn (MLS), Syracuse Salty Dogs (A-League), Hershey Wildcats (A-League), and Orlando Sharks (MISL). He was a four-year letterman on the Saint Louis University men's soccer team from 1997-2000, earning First-Team All-Conference USA and All-Midwest Regional honors in '99. He also played for a Billikens team that reached the NCAA Division I Final Four in 1997 while also winning four Conference USA titles in four years.
Nagy is a native of Grapevine, Texas. He obtained a bachelor's degree in studio art with emphasis on graphic design from Saint Louis, graduating with honors in 2002.
Kelly Tarrant
Assistant Coach
Kelly Tarrant completed her first season as an assistant coach with the Ladyjack soccer program in 2011, perhaps the most successful campaign in SFA history.
The Ladyjacks won the Southland Conference regular season title with a 15-3-1 (9-0) record and finished the season with a program-best ranking of 45 in the RPI.
Tarrant helped oversee play both on the field and in the classroom, where a conference-leading five Ladyjacks were selected to first-team academic all-conference, including the Southland Conference Student Athlete of the Year, Kylie Louw.
Louw excelled both on the field and in academics and her 4.0 GPA was rewarded by being name a Second-Team Scholar All-American.
For a second-straight season the Ladyjacks also earned a spot on the NSCAA Team Academic Award.
Tarrant came to SFA following a two-year stint as an assistant coach at The University of Dubuqe, in Dubuque, Iowa. During her time at UD she helped lead the Spartans to their first ever Iowa Conference Tournament Title and first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2009. Tarrant assisted in all areas of the program, specifically recruiting, scouting of opponents and on the field training.
As a player Tarrant starred as a midfielder for The University of South Alabama from 2004-2008 where she was a First-Team All-Conference player and was selected to the Sunbelt Tournament First-Team. Tarrant scored 22 goals and added 20 assists over her collegiate career. After graduation Tarrant played in England for Portsmouth Women's Football Club and in the W-League for the London Gryphons (London, Ontario).
Tarrant currently holds her NSCAA National Diploma and NSCAA Level III GK Diploma.
Tarrant is a native of Pensacola, Florida. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Communications in 2008 and her Masters degree in Communications in 2011.
